Concerned citizens of Kpando Agudzi have donated computers and accessories to St. Anthony Roman Catholic Basic School in a move aimed at supporting teaching and learning and improving pupils’ access to digital education.

The donation ceremony was held on Friday, October 16, 2026, at the Kpando Agudzi Community Centre, bringing together education officials, community representatives, invited guests, traditional leaders and other stakeholders to witness the presentation.

The initiative, organised by Concerned Kpando Agudzi Citizens, reflects the role community members can play in supporting educational institutions and helping equip pupils with skills relevant to an increasingly technology-driven world.

Education stakeholders and dignitaries attend

The event featured the arrival of dignitaries, including the Kpando District Director of Education, Professor Mereku, and selected chiefs and queen mothers.

The ceremony opened with the singing of the Ghana National Anthem, followed by an opening prayer led by Mr. Augustine Zikpi. Ms. Shelta Adzayao introduced the chairperson and invited guests.

The chairperson, Ms. Margaret Adjadjeh, a Kpando businesswoman, was supported by Mr. Johannes Akromah, also a businessman based in Kpando.

Welcoming participants and explaining the purpose of the gathering, Mrs. Perfect Attakumah, Chairperson of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), addressed the audience as part of the programme.

Pupils showcase their talents

Pupils of Agudzi Basic School were scheduled to provide musical interludes and attractions through poetry recitals, choreography and songs. These performances formed part of the programme’s cultural and educational activities.

Mr. Joseph Getor, School Improvement Support Officer (SISO), was listed to introduce the guest speaker, Mr. Samuel Tsevi Kwesi Wemegah, Deputy Director and Unit Head of the Planning Department at the Kpando Municipal Education Directorate.

The programme also included the singing of the Akpini State Anthem, “Kpando Dukomeha,” before the guest speaker’s address.

Computer donation highlights community support for education

A key moment on the programme was the presentation of computers by Prof. Cosmas W. K. Mereku to support St. Anthony Roman Catholic Basic School.

Access to computers and related digital resources can help schools strengthen pupils’ computer literacy, support classroom instruction and expose learners to technology-based educational opportunities.

The donation also highlights the importance of partnerships among citizens, schools, parents and education authorities in addressing the needs of basic education.

While the programme outline identifies the presentation, further details about the number and specifications of the computers, the accessories donated, and any commitments made during the ceremony were not provided in the material available for this report.

A call to sustain community-led educational support

The donation by Concerned Kpando Agudzi Citizens underscores the potential impact of community participation in education. Sustained support for schools can help create better learning conditions and prepare pupils for future academic and professional opportunities.
