What if one of the greatest spiritual figures in Ghanaian history had deep Ewe roots?

According to some oral traditions, Okomfo Anokye was an Ewe Togbi and the twin brother of Togbi Tsali, a claim that continues to spark intense debate among historians, traditional authorities, and cultural enthusiasts.

Okomfo Anokye remains one of the most influential figures in the formation of the Ashanti Kingdom. He is remembered for his extraordinary spiritual abilities, wisdom, and his close partnership with King Osei Tutu I.

However, various oral accounts across Ghana tell different stories about his ancestry. Some traditions suggest he had Ewe origins, while other historical accounts firmly associate him with the Ashanti Kingdom.

Tsali and Tsala (alias Okomfo kye) were twin brothers. Their father was Togbui Akplormada. These brothers were mysteriously endowed with potent spiritual powers.

Tsala, who later became known as Okomfo Anokye, left Notsie on his sojourn at a youthful age, and finally settled at Awukugua in present day Eastern Region. Because of his spiritual powers, he became known as Okomfo Notsie (in Ewe language, Notsie Hunor) or Notsie priest.

In Anlo oral history, we learnt Tsala (Okomfo Anokye) returned to Notsie around 1695 to consult with his brother Tsali before accepting the invitation of King Osei Tutu of Ashanti to help establish his kingdom (Ashanti Kingdom).

During the reign of King Opoku Ware, a war broke out around 1746, Tsala (Okomfo Anokye) sought permission from the king to visit his twin brother Tsali at Keteklebi (Fiaxor) to celebrate and fortify himself at the annual Dzawuwu celebration of Mama Adexe shrine before leading the Ashantis to the war which he won decisively for the Ashanti kingdom.”

Is it any wonder that we currently have Anloga in Kumasi? Is this not a testimony to the bonds of cooperation that must be maintained? Any call to the cessation of this cooperation must be considered as misplaced, in error and of no consequence.

Our oral Ewe history informs us that “Komfo Anortsie” was a Dogbo Nyigbo man called Amega Atsu Tsala Akpormada who used to live in Nortsie (a well established settlement in the 1450s). Amega Atsu Tsala (aka Okomfo Anokye) and Amega Tse Tsali (of Nortsie and Tsiame fame) are the twin sons of Amega Detor Akplormada (‘the thrown spear”), whose father was Amega Tsamla, son of Mama Kegbleape, one of the two daughters of Amega Gemedra of Nortsie, son of Amega Kugborka Gbe of Ketu, who was the son of Amega Kodisenu, the son of Amega Dzoboku. Amega Doe Dallah (father of Amega Anya, the founder of Anyako) was born after Atsu Tsala and Tse Tsali.

Amega Atsu Tsala and Amega Tse Tsali had other siblings. Amega Gemedra’s other children include Mama Kokui Doe Kutua Asongoe (Torgbi Sri I’s mother), Amega Atsu Madokpui Wenya (Dogbo leader and founder of Laofe Clan), Amega Tse Adedze Nyaki (Founder of Amlade Clan), and Amega Awaga Dotse Kpotsui (father of Bate Clan founders).

Just like Amega Kli (son of Torgbi Ekpe), Amega Aga (grandson of Tsamla) and his father Amega Detor Akplormada, Atsu Tsala (Okomfo Anokye) did not migrate with the Dogboawo to the present day Anlo (established around the 1650s). He (Tsala aka Okomfo Anokye), Kli, Aga and others left Nortsie prior to the group migration. Amega Kli was the one who volunteered as a friend to help Amega Aga to escape from King Ago Akorli’s wrath after the “ame makumaku pe hlor biabia” episode in Nortsie. Amega Kli subsequently founded present day Klikor settlement and Amega Aga established Agavedzi and subsequently, Agave. Two of the reasons why Amega Atsu Tsala left Nortsie prior to the group migration include his dissatisfaction with and subsequent protest to the Dogbo elders about how the “ame makumaku pe hlor biabia” and the “installation of Kponoe as Fia over Dogboawo under a Tado stool” issues were handled at the time.

One day in a fit of anger, Tsali … challenged his father to a public display of supernatural powers (amlimatsitsi). In response to this challenge, the father (Akplormada), removed his own intestines, washed them in a herbal preparation and dried them to give more years of life to himself. Tsali turned into a hawk and carried his father’s intestines away into space. Tsali searched in vain for the tallest tree on which to settle and swallow the intestines of his father. But Akplormada [had] commanded all the trees in the vicinity to be dwarfed. [He then] turned himself into the tallest tree upon which Tsali came to settle. Before Tsali could swallow his father’s intestines, Akplormada reached out his hands and Tsali dropped the intestines right into his father’s unseen palms.

Akplormada [then] ridiculed his son with the words: You know how to turn into a hawk as I had taught you, but you don’t know how to turn into a silk-cotton tree.” Unquote.

[At one time] the whole of Tongu met and decided to drown Tsali. Tsali before his arrest had gathered all his personal effects into a haversack and slung it over his shoulder. At the meeting, he was tied hands and feet … with a great weight of granite rocks hung over his neck and fastened to his back. Looking like a monster, Tsali was drowned in the … Volta [River]. The villagers saw him sink, but on the third day, Tsali was seen by fishermen as he moved on the waters floating on the back of a crocodile he had commanded to come to his rescue. Floating adrift on the crocodile’s back, Tsali held aloft all the granite rocks in his hands and was shouting “Vinowo, mikpo vida: parents behold your child”. There was great consternation in the village: the fishermen abandoned their canoes and ran for dear life. The women yelled and screamed, calling on the whole village to come and see. Tsali [then] decided to leave Tongu for good.”

The granite rock attached on the back of Tsali to drown him still exists and a shrine is built around it on the beach at Konu in Anyako where he dropped the rock. We call it Tsalikpe. The clearing in the Kleve Forest where no plant ever grows to this day was claimed to be the spot where Tsali sat on the ground to explain to his father the problems he encountered on that expedition. These events probably predated their migration from the Kleve Forest to Tsiame.

As pointed out by Kofi Ellison, it is true that the twin brothers, Atsu Tsala (aka Okomfo Anokye) and Tse Tsali did not die natural deaths. They just disappeared and to this day, nobody is able to tell where they went .

THE RANGER OF THE VOLTA: The Intense, Untold Combat Legacy of Major Courage Quashigah

The late Major Courage Emmanuel Kobla Quashigah (Rtd) was born on the 9th day of September, 1947 at Kedzi near Keta in the Volta Region of Ghana. He was the first child of Mr. Livingstone Kofi Quashigah popularly called My Happiness and Madam Celestine Dede Katey Dokli both of blessed memory.

He started his formal education at the A.M.E Zion School, Kedzi and during his confirmation into the A.M.E Zion Church, Courage selected a biblical verse which will become very significant in his later years. ‘Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father who is heaven – Mathew Chapter 5 Verse16’ Between 1962 and 1969, he had his secondary education at the Keta Secondary School where he obtained his G.C.E. ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level Certificates. He was the only student in the history of Keta Secondary School to have held seven appointments all at the same time including the Assistant School Prefect, Leader of the Afro Echoes Band, President of the Dramatic Society and House Captain amongst others. His aspiration to be a leader at all levels saw him grow up steadily and he consolidated his dreams by naming himself COURAGE to mark his recognition of that value as a key guiding principle. His unique performance in drama crowned him BEST STUDENT in PUBLIC SPEAKING in 1965 and BEST ACTOR in 1968.

In between his ‘O’ and ‘A’ level certificate education, Major Courage Emmanuel Kobla Quashigah (Rtd.) taught for one year as a pupil teacher at the A.M.E Zion School where he is still fondly remembered for his portrayal of the character of Modecai in the play entitled ‘Esther the beautiful Queen’. He also spent another year at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation where he worked as an accounts officer while honing his skills as a public speaker by hosting programmes at various places including the LIDO, Blow Up, Tip Toe and Star Hotel. In the pursuit of higher knowledge he gained admission at the University of Ghana, Legon in 1969 but left after a few weeks to the Ghana Military Academy where he also had an admission. After nine months of intensive military training, Courage was selected on merit to continue at one of the most prestigious Military Academies in the world, the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst (RMAS) in the United Kingdom in 1970. The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) develops leadership in cadets by expanding their character, intellect and professional competence to a level demanded of an army officer on first appointment through military training and education. Courage graduated as second lieutenant in 1972 with an academic diploma in Economics, War and Communication Studies.

His display of exceptional distinction in all areas of the course won him the PRINCE ABDUL FAISAL AWARD FOR WAR STUDIES and a CANE AND CERTIFICATE OF HONOUR for being the BEST OVERSEAS CADET AND THE HIGHEST IN THE ORDER OF MERIT. On his return to Ghana in 1972, Courage joined the 1st Battalion of Infantry as a platoon commander where he also played as a member of the HOT BARRELS BAND and later as an instructor at the Junior Leaders Company in Kumasi in 1974. Thirty One years before US President Barack Obama became the first black to be elected in the United States of America, Courage had set a record as the first Black African to date to emerge as the DISTINGUISHED HONOUR GRADUATE on one of America’s roughest and toughest Military Leadership courses – the RANGER COURSE. He was trained as an AIRBORNE (PARATROOPER) RANGER at the United States Army Infantry School (USAIS). The Ranger School is a leadership course that teaches a soldier what he or she is capable of doing under very, very stressful conditions. By the nature of the course, an individual emerges more confident, tactical and proficient with the ability to accomplish any mission with distinction. The Ranger School wash out rate was averaged 60%. This means only 40% of those admitted get to graduate. Ranger Quashigah smashed all the records and set new ones to the awe and admiration of Course Instructors. He was named the RANGERS’ RANGER. From the Ranger Course, Courage was appointed the Intelligence Officer at the Headquarters of the Second Infantry Brigade in Kumasi and Chief Instructor at the Jungle Warfare School at Akim Achiase. He was among the few gallant soldiers called to serve as the security backbone of the shortlived military government of the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) which handed over power to an elected civilian government in 1979. In 1980, Courage was among the Ghanaian contingent that took part in Peace Keeping Operations in Lebanon and for his excellent performance, he received COMMENDATION FOR EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE COMMAND from the then UNIFIL Forces Commander, General Emmanuel Erskine. Courage was again called into action during the days of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) and served as Chief Operations Officer at the Headquarters which was situated at the Gondar barracks and a Commanding Officer of the Ghana Military Police.

As the Commanding officer of the Ghana Military Police, he transformed the unit into a highly professional and respected unit in the Ghana Armed Forces, a legacy that has stood the test of time. He also became the Commanding Officer of the Forces Reserve Battalion (64th Battalion). Courage’s moment of national fame and recognition came, when he, together with a hand full of loyalist soldiers displayed innate chivalry by storming the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation on foot to dislodge some dissident soldiers who had taken the whole nation hostage with the announcement that they had overthrown the PNDC government. His speech that day, still rings on the minds of those who were courageous enough to come out from under their beds to listen to their radio sets.

Major Courage Emmanuel Kobla Quashigah also became a member of the Directing Staff at the Military Academy and Training Schools and also served as a member of the Police Council. He also studied at the Canadian Land Forces Command and Staff College and the Canadian Staff School in 1987. In 1989, Major Courage Quashigah studied at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College where on graduation he received the EVERAND AWARD FOR ORATORY AND PRESENTATIONS SKILLS. As a Soldier, Courage never ceased to demonstrate his desire to be physically fit at all times. His excellence in the area of sports made him stand out in most events. He became the captain of the RMA Sandhurst Boxing Team and led the team to several victories over several boxing clubs including the Oxford and Cambridge Universities, the British Naval College, the London Sporting Club amongst others. For his achievements he received several awards including the FULL COLOURS FOR BOXING AND ATHLETICS in 1970 and 1971 at the RMA Sandhurst, the LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONS MEDAL in the Army Officers Boxing and Athletics tournament of 1971 at Aldershot in Britain.

A CHAMPIONS CERTIFICATE in inter Brigades Squash Competition, Ghana in 1978 and The BALL CHAMPIONS CERTIFICATE in Inter-Syndicates Volleyball in Canada in 1987. Music has always been part of his success. He was a great dancer, a great singer, and a great drummer. His dynamism and innovation led him to convince the late Lt. Col. Larbi in 1973, then a Capt. and the director of the Ghana Armed Forces Central Band to introduce local songs into military march music which were played for the first time in 1974 during the 13th January parade with the first two slow marches being ‘De Sror la Afe’ and ‘Midzi Agbanam’. Since then a lot of local songs have been added to the repertoire of the band effectively transforming Military march music to the joy and admiration of Ghanaians. To everything there is an end. Major Courage Quashigah’s brilliant military career effectively came to an abrupt end when he was arrested and detained at the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) for two and a half years without charge.

In 1992, after being released from detention and discharged honourably from the Ghana Armed Forces, he took part in a workshop in Civil Society and Local Government Organization in Germany. Due to his excellent performance, he was invited again by the Frederick Neuman Foundation to be trained in Political Strategy and Planning. He was also trained in South Africa by the same organization in Facilitation and Moderation. With his newly acquired skills, Major Quashigah helped in the training of several organizations including the Business and Professional Women (BPW - Ghana), the Private News Paper Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) and the Nigerian Association of Small Scale Industries (NASSI) among others. While in Secondary School, Courage joined the Young Pioneers Movement of the CPP and quickly rose to become a troop leader which gave him a firsthand opportunity to play key roles in Youth Development, so when in 1992, Ghana opted to go the democratic path, Courage, after much consideration decided to join the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He later became a member of the Publicity Committee and the National Organization Committee from 1994 to 1996. In 1998, he contested and won the position of the first National Organizer of the party. He developed strategies and manuals and trained polling agents and parliamentary candidates. He vigorously campaigned with his colleagues including the then candidate Kufuor, Nana Akuffo-Addo and Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey and immensely contributed to the victory of the party in the December 2000 elections. Under the new administration, Major Courage Emmanuel Kobla Quashigah was appointed Minister of Food and Agriculture and served from 2001 till 2005 during the first term of the Kufuor Administration. During his tenure, Major Courage Quashigah worked tirelessly with his staff at the Ministry to ensure that there was abundant food supply all year round. Post-harvest losses were significantly reduced.

The Ministry also effectively promoted the processing, storage and packaging of agricultural products while ensuring that Ghanaians eat nutritious diets from locally produced foods, commodities and products. For his sterling performance at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, he was adjudged the MINISTER OF THE YEAR in 2003 by Ghanaians and in the same year he was crowned THE PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR. In 2005 during the second term of the Kufuor administration, Major Quashigah was appointed the MINISTER OF HEALTH. Initiatives such as Regenerative Health and Nutrition Programme which aimed at promoting healthy living, long life and creating wealth through health were some of his landmark achievements. After ensuring that this new paradigm was captured in the National Health Policy launched in September, 2007 he took it a step further when he delivered a speech on Regenerative Health and Nutrition at the Commonwealth Health Ministers’ Conference in Geneva and the African Union Health Ministers Conference in South Africa. His efforts were crowned by the AFRICAN UNION DECLARATION ON RENEGERATIVE HEALTH which selected the last Friday of February each year to be commemorated as Africa’s Healthy Lifestyles Day.

Major Courage Emmanuel Kobla Quashigah crowned all his efforts and laurels with the ORDER OF THE STAR OF THE VOLTA, COMPANION DIVISION which was confered on him by then President of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufour. Few people knew that for the last eight years of his public service he had endured excruciating back pain. But everyone who knew him knows, that he was a man driven to see our nation and people show forth their full potential and greatness. Most times he would ignore his own discomfort and be the first to wake up and go to work each day. He wanted to make certain that he was contributing his quota to the national effort, often to the sacrifice of his own well-being. After the 2008 elections he had more time to pay some attention to his own condition and was examined and treated here in Ghana.

Upon receiving an invitation to be interviewed in the “Enlightened Speakers Series” under the auspices of the Institute for A New Humanity, a Conflict Resolution Center operated by our brothers and sisters of the African Hebrew Israelites of Dimona, Israel, he decided to also take the opportunity to have a second opinion on his condition. It was during his examinations at the hospital in Israel that it was realized that unfortunately, things had turned for the worse. And still his conversation was not so much for himself, but of the needs of Ghana. On the morning of the 5th of January 2010 he spoke for the last saying he has been called to a HIGHER SERVICE FOR MANKIND and took his last breath. MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PERFECT PEACE.

THE DAY RAWLINGS' TRUSTED ALLY BECAME THE STATE'S TARGET: THE DRAMATIC ARREST OF MAJOR COURAGE QUASHIGAH

One of the most dramatic moments in Ghana’s political history happened in September 1989, when the late Major Courage Quashigah, once a trusted ally of Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, was suddenly arrested by the very military government he had helped defend years earlier.

At the time, Ghana was under the rule of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) led by Rawlings. Ironically, Quashigah had built his reputation as one of Rawlings’ fiercest loyalists, especially after his heroic role in crushing the bloody June 19, 1983 coup attempt, where he reportedly led military officers to recapture the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and save the government from collapse.

However, behind the scenes, tensions had reportedly started growing between the two men. Quashigah’s growing popularity among junior soldiers and ordinary citizens allegedly made some powerful figures within the PNDC uncomfortable. His increasing support for constitutional democracy and civilian rule also reportedly placed him at odds with the direction of the military regime.

According to later accounts, Quashigah claimed there had been earlier attempts to frame him. In one shocking allegation, he said state officials once gave him wooden carvings as gifts for an official trip to Canada, allegedly hiding illegal drugs in one of them to get him arrested abroad. By chance, the specific carving was reportedly left behind in Ghana.

Then came the dramatic turn.

Between September 24 and 26, 1989, military intelligence officers moved swiftly against Quashigah. He was arrested together with several other officers, including Flight Lieutenant William Kofi Domie, Squadron Leader Edward Akakpo, Abdulai Yusif Mohamed, and Kwabena Donkor.

The PNDC government accused them of engaging in activities that threatened national security. According to state allegations, they were involved in a plot to assassinate Rawlings and overthrow the military government. Yet, despite the seriousness of the accusations, the state never publicly presented strong evidence or proceeded with a formal criminal trial.

Following his arrest, Quashigah was reportedly detained under harsh conditions by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI). He was allegedly placed in solitary confinement, denied access to family members, lawyers, and independent medical care for long periods.

While he remained in detention, state-controlled media reportedly launched what many critics later described as a “media trial.” Newspapers allegedly published stories portraying him as guilty, including claims that he had attempted to escape custody and later pleaded for mercy reports strongly denied by his supporters.

The most disturbing chapter of the saga came with the death of one of his co-accused, Flight Lieutenant William Kofi Domie.

In November 1989, authorities announced that Domie had allegedly died by suicide inside detention. But when his body was released, disturbing claims emerged. Family members and human rights groups reportedly questioned the official explanation, alleging signs of severe physical injuries and torture. The controversy deepened fears that Quashigah himself might also be in danger.

Yet after more than two years in detention, something surprising happened: Major Quashigah was never formally charged or taken to court.

As Ghana prepared to return to multiparty democracy in the early 1990s, the PNDC quietly released him. His military career, however, had effectively ended. He was discharged from the armed forces and forced into civilian life.

But Quashigah was far from finished.

Rather than disappear from public life, he entered politics and eventually joined the New Patriotic Party (NPP), becoming one of its most influential organizers.

In a twist of history, the man once trusted by Rawlings later became a key figure in defeating Rawlings’ political tradition at the ballot box.

Major Courage Quashigah's story is more than politics; it is a lesson about power, loyalty, trust and survival during one of Ghana's most turbulent periods.

A trained Mechanical Engineer and graduate of Ho Technical University (HTU), Asafo Maradona has proven that talent and education can coexist successfully.

His love for music began at an early age. What started as a youthful passion gradually evolved into a serious pursuit of artistic excellence. Over the years, he has consistently worked to refine his craft, developing a unique sound that resonates with listeners across different backgrounds.

Music lovers may already be familiar with some of his notable songs, including "No 9 No 10," "My Bless," and "Hossana," among several others that have earned him recognition within underground music circles. These songs showcase his versatility, lyrical depth, and ability to connect with everyday experiences and emotions.

For the people of Akpini State and Kpando Konda, one of such young and inspiring personalities is Juliet Yayra Aphu — the intelligent, resilient, and ambitious young lady representing not only herself, but the entire Akpini land on the national stage of Miss College Ghana 2026.

Born to Mr Elvis Afu and Mrs Veronica Malekpor Nartey, Juliet Yayra Aphu embodies the true values of the Ewe heritage: hard work, resilience, humility, intelligence, and service to society. Raised with the belief that one’s background should never become a limitation, but rather a motivation to rise higher, Juliet has consistently proven herself as a determined young woman committed to excellence.

Her educational journey reflects discipline and purpose. She began her early education at Gospel International School in Madina before continuing to OLA Girls Senior High School in Ho, where she pursued General Arts. Today, she is a Level 400 student at the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UNIMAC), building her future in journalism and communication — a field through which she hopes to impact lives and shape narratives that matter.

Beyond the classroom, Juliet is already making meaningful contributions to society through her work with Mega Broadcasting Network in Accra, where she helps tell Ghanaian stories and amplify voices often unheard. Her passion for youth development and social impact extends even further through her dream project, CareerLens Ghana — an AI-powered platform designed to guide SHS and tertiary students toward the right career paths and opportunities.

In a time where many young people struggle with uncertainty about their future, Juliet’s vision stands as a beacon of hope. She believes that Ghana’s greatest resource is not gold or cocoa, but its people. Through innovation, mentorship, and storytelling, she hopes to empower students and create opportunities that can transform lives.

As a contestant in Miss College Ghana 2026, Juliet Yayra Aphu is not merely competing for a crown. She is representing the culture, identity, intelligence, beauty, and aspirations of the Akpini people before the entire nation. Her participation is a moment of pride for Kpando Konda and the whole Akpini State — proof that daughters of the land can rise boldly onto national platforms while carrying their heritage with dignity.

Join Queen Norvi in launching menstrual hygiene project in Kpando Municipality schools

 

My name is Queen Norvi, Face of Akpini 2022. Please join me on this Saturday the 8th of April 2023 in Kpando Gadza at exactly 11am as we officially launch my project “Menstrual Hygiene”  

This project will be done in all Junior High and Basic schools in the Kpando Municipality. 

Having been able to execute the first phase in Kpando Dzoanti, Gadza and Agudzi schools by sharing sanitary pads to all the teenage girls and as well educating them on menstrual hygiene.

Queen Norvi, along with her team at FOA, shared sanitary pads with the teenage girls and educated them on menstrual hygiene.

This is the end of my Ghana's Most Beautiful journey and likely, my beauty contest journey - Gloria Nunana Afetor

I WAS EVICTED AT THE SEMI FINAL STAGE OF THE GMB AUDITION

Gloria Nunana Afetor writes,

Before I get to the main point, I've received your sentimental messages, if there's anything I regret about not making it to the GMB highest stage, it'll be your selfless support, love and expectations.

That not withstanding, this is the end of my Ghana's Most Beautiful journey and likely, my beauty contest journey.

Even before I went for this year's audition, I stated that it'll be my last attempt. Some of you in my dm talked about how people tried 5 to 6 times before they were chosen. Y'all are right but I have other plans. Beauty contest is my passion not an obsession. I am humbled by your trust in my capabilities but this is where I call it quits. The biggest reason for joining this contest is to be able to promote my region like I use to do and I assure you that I'll continue to do that with or without the GMB stage. So please look forward to it and lend me your endless support🙏

Away from that, let's not keep saying that I've been cheated or other people have connections. My man says I'm the most realistic and open minded human he has ever met and I need y'all to be this carefree with me. Don't be sad, we move✊. Even if it was me who was chosen, someone elsewhere who thinks their person is the best will also say that I cheat my way up there. 

Let me let you in on this, the Volta region's audition has always been on a different level when it comes to GMB and our number is always the largest number. I've judged various beauty contests varying from community based contests to national based contests and I can say for sure that it was not easy choosing out of 11 highly intelligent ladies. When it gets tough like this, judges look beyond the intelligence and delve into other things. I know they're intelligent because I auditioned in the same room with them. 

I am very confident in myself and it's safe to say that I'll make one of the best (if not the best) representatives the Volta region could ever have owing to my vast knowledge about the region as a tourism enthusiast and my experience as a reporting journalist across the region. On top of that, I can narcissisticaly say that my intelligence is above average.

However, I have never gone for this audition with the mindset of being the most intelligent or being unmatched by my peers. And never with the mindset of I must be chosen at all costs. 

There's an adage in Ewe that says "a child who says his mother is the best cook in the world hasn't seen much of the world". I am not the only intelligent lady from the Volta region.

Unfortunately, the judges are not privy to the info about my experience and knowledge on the Volta region like yourselves. So while you know for sure that I am highly capable, the judges don't necessarily know.

In short, look on the brighter side of things and let's accept defeat where need be. I'm not in anyway saying I'm inferior to the people selected. Let's just say that I'm not the judges choice in the semi final stage of the GMB audition.

In case I change my mind about going too, I'll let you know🙏

Mawusi Francis Elikem Kosi

 Mawusi Francis Elikem Kosi, also known as Elikem_Inspires, is a former student of Bishop Herman College, Korle-Bu Nursing School and is currently a Level 400 Nursing Student at Pentecost University. He is Kpando born and a product thereof.

He is a leader, a health professional, and a writer (Poet). He has written several works, including
