By Prosper Wise Amegbe | Akpini News

The people of Kpando Gadza are celebrating a significant milestone as their Queen Mother, Mama Ambadza III, marks five years since her installation to the revered traditional position.

The fifth anniversary provides an opportunity to reflect on five years of service, challenges, growth and community development under her leadership.

In a message marking the anniversary, Mama Ambadza III expressed gratitude to Almighty God for His grace, strength and protection throughout the journey.

According to her, the past five years have not been without challenges, but through faith and perseverance, she has continued to serve her people and contribute to the development of Kpando Gadza.

Five Years of Community Impact

Over the past five years, the Queen Mother has championed and supported a number of initiatives aimed at improving the lives and opportunities of people within the community.

Among the key initiatives highlighted are:

  • An ICT Laboratory, established in collaboration with Achrow Engineering and the Accra Premier Lions Club.
  • A community library project, undertaken in partnership with the Delali Foundation and Accra Sankofa Leo Club, with book support from the Rainbow Foundation and Book Aid International’s Books To Go project.
  • Women empowerment and skills training programmes, including training in detergent and pain-relief ointment production for members of the Kpando Gadza Women Association.
  • Teenage Mothers Back-to-School and Skills Training Programme, implemented in collaboration with the Emo Foundation.
  • Annual free health screening exercises for members of the community.
  • Annual Christmas celebrations for children, creating opportunities for young people in the community to celebrate the festive season.
  • The introduction of a Women’s Football Gala, aimed at promoting unity, participation and healthy living among women.

These initiatives, according to the Queen Mother, represent only some of the milestones achieved during her five-year journey of service.

Gratitude to Supporters

As she celebrates the anniversary, Mama Ambadza III has expressed her appreciation to her family, friends, traditional elders, development partners, supporters and the entire Kpando Gadza community for their continued support.

She acknowledged the prayers, encouragement and collective efforts that have helped sustain her vision and enabled her to continue serving the people.

More Community Support Ahead

The fifth-anniversary celebration is also expected to extend beyond reflection, with another major community initiative planned in the coming weeks.

A massive free health and eye screening exercise is expected to be organised, with free reading glasses to be provided to persons who require them.

The initiative is expected to further reinforce the Queen Mother's commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of residents.

Five Years of Service

Five years after her installation, Mama Ambadza III's journey reflects a combination of traditional leadership, community service and development-oriented initiatives.

From education and skills training to healthcare, women's empowerment, youth engagement and community welfare, her anniversary offers the people of Kpando Gadza an opportunity to celebrate the journey so far while looking ahead to the years ahead.

As she puts it, five years have brought challenges, growth and impact — and by God's grace, the journey continues.

I'm Five years old since the installation as the Paramount Chief of the Tanyigbe Traditional Area.

Togbe Kodi Adiko VI, the Paramount Chief of the Tanyigbe Traditional Area Writes

Exactly 5 years ago, on 17th June 2017, I was captured by the kingmakers of Tanyigbe in my residence in Accra and taken home to begin the installation rites as Paramount Chief of the Tanyigbe Traditional Area. After nine days of confinement, the final rites were performed, leading to my coronation on 25th June 2017.

I thank the Lord for keeping me safe and well throughout the years. I am grateful to my family, the chiefs and elders, counsellors, friends, acquaintances, well-wishers and the entire Tanyigbe citizenry, home and abroad, for their unflinching support, prayers, and dedication to me and to the development of Tanyigbe.

I pray that God continues to guard, guide, and give me the wisdom and strength I need to serve my people and our homeland.

God bless us all.

Tɔgbe Aƒede returns the GHC 365K Ex-gratia payment made to him by the government.

Togbe Afede XIV; Agbogbomefia of Asogli

In a trending communique endorsed by Togbe Afede XIV; Agbogbomefia of Asogli speculated that Togbe Afede XIV has refunded the Ghc365,000 Ex-gratia paid to him by the incumbent government. Dated 6th June 2022.

Below is the extract of the document for your perusal👇👇👇

There have been various publications and comments recently on my refund of

GHC365,392.67 was paid into my account, and I wish to provide the following clarification:

1. While working on my tax returns towards the end of last year, I received tax receipts from the Council of State Secretariat that indicated that some money was paid into my bank account in July, 2021 as "Ex Gratia" for my four-year work as a member of the Council of State, 2017-2020.

2. I applied for and received a statement from my bankers that confirmed that indeed some money was paid into my account. I eventually confirmed from the Council of State Secretariat that the sum of GHC365,392.67 was paid into my account as Ex Gratia.

3. I did not think the payment was made to trap me, as is being speculated. I believe it was paid to everybody who served on the Council of State. However, I thought that extra payment was inappropriate for a short, effectively part-time work, for which I received a monthly salary and was entitled to other privileges. So, I was very uncomfortable with it.

4. After weeks of trying, I obtained advice on how to refund inappropriate payments to the State, and on March 4, 2022, I made the refund into the Controller & Accountant General's Department Suspense Account at the Bank of Ghana.

5. In my letter to the Secretary, Council of State, I stated that "It was a great honour for me to have served on the Council of State for four years, 2017 to 2020. Even though I served as chairman of one of the three (3) committees of the Council, the Economy and Special Development Initiatives Committee, and participated fully in the Council's activities, I do not think my work merited the payment to me of a colossal sum of GHC365,392.67, as Ex Gratia, in addition to the salary I enjoyed from what was effectively a part-time job".

6. I want to add that my rejection of the payment was consistent with my general abhorrence of the payment of huge Ex Gratia and other outrageous benefits to people who have by their own volition offered to serve our poor country.

Signed:

Togbe Afede XIV
